How to Find Galloway Country Cottages

There is easy access to the Solway Coast area of Dumfries and Galloway in southern Scotland and generally you will enjoy quiet roads throughout the area.

Travelling to Galloway Country Cottages from South of the Border - All routes converge on the M6 at Carlisle, from there a short drive up the M74 takes you to Gretna on the Scottish border and the A75. Follow this to the outskirts of Dumfries and take the A710 which leads you easily through Dumfries and out onto the quiet Solway coastal road to the hamlet of Sandyhills, turn right at the foot of the hill and you will find Barend Holiday Village in Dumfries and Galloway some 400 metres on your right.

Travelling to Galloway Country Cottages from Central Scotland - Leave the M74 at Junction 15 Moffat and take the A701 down to Dumfries. At the A75 Dumfries ring road carry on across into Dumfries following signs for the A710 Solway coast road. Follow this through the village of New Abbey into the hamlet of Sandyhills, turn right at the foot of the hill and you will find Barend Holiday Village in Dumfries and Galloway some 400 metres on your right.

Travelling to Galloway Country Cottages from the West/Northern Ireland on the A75 - Turn right onto the B794 just after the Castle Douglas by-pass and follow this road down to Dalbeattie. Carry straight ahead onto the A710 and follow this round the Solway coast to the hamlet of Sandyhills at the crossroads at the foot of the hill turn left and the entrance to Barend Holiday Village in Dumfries and Galloway is 400 metres on your right.
